Kara Calvert

The world’s most innovative companies turn to Franklin Square Group because our team understands them, and understands how to get things done. And without a doubt, Kara has distinguished herself on both counts – having been in the trenches on major tech policy battles, and having worked directly with companies that are driving innovation in America.

On critical technology issues related to health care innovation, cybersecurity, privacy and immigration, Kara serves Franklin Square Group clients with expertise honed through years of work in the in U.S. Senate and at Washington’s leading high tech trade association.

At the Information Technology Industry Council, Kara played a central role in developing policy goals for more than three dozen of America’s top tech businesses. Working as the Director of Government Relations, she provided strategic guidance that helped member companies navigate critical issues, including internet taxation, high skilled immigration, health technology regulation, education reform, e-commerce, and more. And, with extensive political relationships and legislative savvy, Kara also served as an important link between the tech industry and policymakers.

Kara’s ability to deliver results is underpinned by her years of service on Capitol Hill, including as a key advisor to Senator Michael Enzi (R- WY) on tech, tax, telecommunications, trade, budget and transportation issues. During her time on the Hill, Kara also directed Senator Enzi’s policy work on the Senate Banking and Senate Budget Committees, and played a key role in passing bills related to Internet taxes, export control law and Indian housing.
